If you only put a little too much it is ok. If you put way too much it can cause problems. It can cause internal problems. Drain off any excess.

If you put too much oil in your car there is a chance that it will leak out onto the engine block which could cause fire.

If you add too much oil to your car you risk having too high of oil pressure that can cause the gaskets leak.

if you put too much oil in your car it will run a bit different and the smoke that comes out the exhaust will be a darker color because you are burning off the extra oil you put in your car
