Question by  Darlene (194)

Is 10W-30 the ideal oil viscosity for a Nissan Maxima?

I need to know the best oil to put in my car.

With an overhead cam motor like the nissan maxima has the return ports which allow the oil to drain back into the pan. If the car has high mileage - more than 100000 miles - I would probably use 10 w 40 oil. Oil consumption is also an indicator for thicker oil. Using oil? Thicker.

It could be but I cannot recommend that viscosity without knowing what year your Maxima is. It can vary from year to year. If you have a manual consult that. Otherwise you can look this information up on a auto-parts website like Autozone.

The oil viscosity recommend can vary by engine and year. I can't say for sure that this is the correct weight for you car without knowing more. You can find this information by looking in your owners manual or by searching online. Be sure to buy a full synthetic.

Yes, I am pretty sure that 10W-30 oil is perfect for a Nissan Maxima. The thickness and weight of that particular oil are ideal under most conditions. The only thing I can think of is you may want a thinner oil, like 5W-30 under extremely cold conditions.

Yes, mibil 1 10w30 is fine for your vehicle. Check your owners manual to see what the manfacture recommends. Most vehicles are good with the 10w30 weight I just think that Mobil 1 is better than most other brands.

That sounds a little heavy for a Maxima. Not knowing the year or engine I can't be exact so look in your manual or check online somewhere like Autozone. com.
