What happens if you get a traffic ticket in another state?

I was on vacation and got stopped for running a stop sign.

You are going to be held liable for all consequences of the ticket. If you refuse to complete the requirements, your license can be suspended from renewal in your state.

Unless you have to appear in court, it should say so on the ticket, you can pay the fine and not worry about it. If you want to contest it or it is an offense that requires court then you will have to travel to where you got the ticket go to court.

Pay the ticket. Generally you can do this by mail or over the phone. If a court appearance is required, contact the court to ask to make other arrangements. Failure to take care of the matter will result in a warrant for your arrest, which ultimately will haunt you.

All traffic courts are now linked so it will show on your record eventually. Ususally when it is time for you to renew your license it will be on there and if it was not paid it will prevent you from getting a new license.
