Can an unmarked police car give traffic tickets in California?

I got a ticket from an unmarked car while in traveling in California.

You absolutely can get a traffic ticket from a police officer in any kind of car. California law states that if traffic enforcement is the officer's "primary function," they must be in a marked car. But any officer who sees you breaking the law can pull you over.

Yes they can. It does not matter the vehicle the officer is driver or whether or not they were in a vehicle. As long as they are on duty, posted at their assigned place of duty, and obeying proper officer conduct, they can issue you a ticket and you have to pay it.

An officer whose primary purpose is something other than traffic (i. e. homicide, sexual assault investigator, etc. ) DO NOT have to be in uniform, or in a marked police cruiser to give you a traffic ticket. An officer whose primary function is for traffic however, must be in a clearly marked cruiser

Go to court and it'll be thrown out!!! I got pulled over for going 40mph over by unmarked, marked unit show up and give me ticket. Went to court and I won!
