What happened to Pru on the sitcom Charmed?

Shannon Doherty who played the character of Pru on Charmed decided to leave the show, and so her character was killed off during a demon attack. Rose McGowen was then added to the cast as Paige another sister which had to adjust to being a witch, and live up to Pru's legacy. At least that's what she thought.

Prue was killed by a demonic assassin named Shax, who was sent by the Source of all Evil. This occurred in the episode, "All Hell Breaks Loose", which ends in a cliffhanger. But, the first episode of season 4, confirms it. Prue continues to help her sisters in the afterlife.
