What happened to Pru on the sitcom Charmed?

Prue (note the spelling) was killed while doing battle with Shax. The first time it happened, she was healed, but the Source of All Evil tricked Leo.

Pru was killed by The Source (as in the source of all evil) at the end of season 3. The Charmed Ones lost the oldest sister Pru, but won the battle. They vanquished the Source. Pru was replaced by half-sister Paige who's father was the mother's whitelighter.
