What were the differences between the Little House on the Prairie books and the TV series?

Answer by  CarolynOsborne (2804)

The television series takes place in one location while the books began in Wisconsin and ended in South Dakota. The main characters are similar (Ma, Pa, the girls, the Olsens), the show has many characters not in the books. The setting of the stories, post Civil War west, is similar, but events differ. And Michael Landon could NOT play fiddle!
