What flowers are best for a yard that gets full sun?

My yard is not shaded very much at all, in fact most of it has full exposure to the sun, I would like to start a garden but do not know what flowers are best.

Many annual flowers will grow in a sunny yard, such as sunflowers, cosmos, alyssum, bachelor buttons, marigolds or petunias. Perennials that thrive in sun are bee balm, coneflowers, rudbeckia, shasta daisies, gaillardia, lavender, flowering flax, poppies, sages, and ornamental grasses. Most flowering shrubs also thrive in sun, including roses. Vegetables, such as tomatoes or zucchinis, will also grow well.

Coneflowers, Black-Eyed Susans, and Salvia all love full sun and attract butterflies, along with Butterfly Bushes and Yarrow. Pansies can be grown in bright sun to partial shade. Peonies are a classic full sun perennial. Delphiniums are tall and striking. Lavender can be enjoyed in the garden and then dried for so many uses.

Roses are always good in the sun. Phlox is another flower. Lilacs are pretty and have a wonderful scent. Marigolds are hardy and are great for borders. Iris and Lily are also good in the garden. Some border grasses do well in light. Mums and Gladiolas are also good choices.
