Question by  scresci (23)

What does the LCD (least common denominator) of two or more fractions mean?

+8

Answer by  esteban (1334)

The bottom number of a fraction is its denominator. A Least Common Denominator (LCD) is the smallest number that two or more denominators will divide evenly. For example, if you have denominators of 4 and 10, then the LCD is 20, because 4 divides 20 evenly and so does 10.

+3

The LCD is how you make two fractions in the same form. Find the LCM of both denominators and multiply the numerator by the number you did to the bottom.
