The song sounds like high pitched squawking with short breaks. There are short intervals between each song. The sound is consistent except at the end of the song the squawks have shorter breaks.

Cockatiel mating songs are sung only by mature males, and consist of a few high pitched notes, repeated in the same sequence over and over.
