SS in medical terminology stands for Hemoglobin SS (HbSS); this refers to Sickle Cell disorder. It is also called SS disease.

Wow, what an open ended question. SS can mean Stainless Steel, Second Strike, Shortstop, Steam Ship, Social Security and Schutzstaffel to name a few. Schutzstaffel was the Nazi Party's Shield Squadron, the infamous and much feared SS. It also means 'sensu stricto' as in 'in the strictest sense. '

It can mean: sleep study, sezary syndrome, Shear stress, Saccharopolyspora spinosa, salmonella shigella, Seckel syndrome, seizure sensitive, sepsis syndrome, serotonin syndrome, serum sensitive, sicca syndrome, Sjogren syndrome, Sneddon's syndrome, sodium saccharin, somnolence syndrome, spermatocytic seminoma, spinal stenosis, stunting syndrome.
