In most cases, when you see Q1, it means the first quarter of the year, as in denoting company profits, etc. There is also a computer game called Q1, (Quake 1), but it's most likely that you are asking about an abbreviation for the first quarter of the calendar year.

Q1 could mean a lot of different things. It most likely means question one or first quarter. It probably depends on what context the Q1 is used in. In lableing earth quakes it means first quake in a bunch of related quakes.
