What does an unpaid medical bill do to your credit?

Can I still buy a house?

This depends on what the person or company owed the money chooses to do. They can report it to credit bureaus, which will lower your credit score. They can send it to a collection agency, who can do the same. They can also sue you and get a judgment. The judgment can be put as a lien on your property.

If you already have a poor credit score, an unpaid medical bill could jeopardize your ability to buy a house. Alternatively, it could just make your interest rate higher.
