What does a ruptured anal gland on a dog look like?

A dog's anal glands are at "5 and 7 o'clock" next to the anus. Healthy glands look like little curved slots. A ruptured gland is a red, oozing tear when the gland has become blocked, inflamed and then bursts open. If you see this, geet your pup to the vet!

Most dogs can express their anal glands with a bowel movement. Scooting on the ground is a sign,that they are full. A rupture anal glad will show signs of blood,pus,swelling and a lost of appetite. Most dog, will lay around feeling ill.
