About how much would it cost to have a dog's anal glands removed?

The cost for this procedure would depend on the area in which you live. I would suggest you get several estimates from qualified Vets in your area and take into consideration the additional cost of medications such as antibiotics/painkillers.

I would suggest that you talk to your local vet first. The prices to have a dog's anal glands removed can vary from state to state. But can range any where from one hundred fifty dollars and up.

Not sure how much it cost but my friend has a dog and she is a very old dog and when her anal glands swell up it makes it hard for her to pass her food through so my friend has to squeeze them to drain. Very nasty!

The typical amount would be around$900-$1100 depending on the vet. Adding Metamucil to their food or feeding them vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, or celery can increase the fiber in their diets, therefore hardening the stool and ridding them of the watery diarrhea that irritates the anal glands.

I haven't been in practice for over 4 years, but then it would have run anywhere from $250-900. It all depends upon your particular situation and also the going rates in your area. I suggest trying the other multiple solutions for your problem before simply jumping into removing them! There can be many difficult consequences to the surgery!

I am quite confused and more than a bit angry to answer this one. Do you even realize that this would kill the animal? You will never find a veterinarian that would do it amyway thank god.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about Travis? The anal glands have no necessary function and veterinarians often recommend removing them if a dog hass constant problems with them  add a comment

They were useful in the dark ages when a dog had very hard bowel movement,,serve no useful purpose now, except to make a dog miserable.  add a comment

TravisUSMC, please do not add ignorant comments, it will not kill the animal number one, number two it will save the animal a lot of pain and discomfort if it gets frequently impacted, and yes vets will do these operations, get your facts straight.  add a comment
