What do you write in a message of sympathy?

I always try to be sincere--I only write "I'm sorry for your loss" once, address my message to the recipient instead of making it a story about the deceased, and try to include one positive memory. A friend who lost her son told me that she didn't even read sympathy cards until months later, and that's when it mattered.

Tell a person who's relative has died that you are sorry for their loss and try to make them feel better about it
