What does it mean when you get the message, bearer not available, on a cellphone when sending a text message?

I thought that even if the person you were sending the message to did not have their phone on you could still send it.

Some people have the receive text messages feature turned off so they don't have to pay text charges. Ask the person if this is the case for him/her.

Usually that is the case, but for some phones it isn't. Just try to send the message later when their phone is available.

It is a cruel power trip. This is a subtle way to tell you that the person reading your messages just doesn't want to waste time on you right now.

The phone is off and you will get that message. Also if he hasn't paid his bill the company will shut off the phone at their end and he will not be able to receive any calls. The phone has to be on or the bill has to be paid for you to leave a message.
