What do you use Polysporin antibiotic cream for?

I found some, and I don't know what it was used for.

Generally it is used on small cuts or injuries that have become infected. In some cases it is used to avoid infection following an injury or surgery. It is used only as a topical cream and should not be taken orally or applied to an orifice or to the eye.

Polysporin Antibiotic Cream is used to prevent or treat skin infections in minor scrapes or burns. The cream kills bacteria that cause infection. Side effects are not common.
