"Beauty Therapy" appears to be the new politically correct terminology for cosmetology. "Beauty therapy can include things such as nail art, waxing, ear piercing, hairstyling, and many other salon treatments that used to be techniques learned in cosmetology school.

A beauty therapist, also known as an aesthetician, performs various treatments for the face and body. A beauty therapist attends cosmetology school, and has additional training as a body therapist and electrolysist, and works to helps clients feel and look better.

It's not quite cosmetology since that field is more hands on with application of beauty products, nail health and design, and hair design applications like cutting, shampooing, style creation. Beauty therapy is more psychology oriented, with an introduction and study of how different cultures see and apply beauty.

Beauty therapy is course which covers all most the study of beauty treatment,and cosmetology is its application including the following branches of specialties as hairstyling,skin care,cosmetic,manicures and electrology.The following which are the individual disciplines with the cosmetology shampoo technician ,Manicurist,esthetician, Nail technician,Electrologist,Hairstylist and hair colorist.Genaral cosmetic courses in United states focus primarily in hair style.
