It may be the brand of food. Try switching the ferret to a food that is not so high in fiber and see if that helps.

Take your ferret to a qualified exotics vet who has experience with ferrets. Bowel issues may be symptomatic of many different things, some of them dangerous unless treated as quickly as possible. Your best course of action is to find a good vet who can do a proper exam and prescribe the right treatment.

Consult a veterinarian and have her come up with a personalized diet for the ferret. Commercial ferret feeds lack many nutrients they need to have healthy bowels.

Keeping a ferret well hydrated with a fresh supply of water is the best thing for the bowels. If at anytime is suspected of constipation, take it to the vet.
