Question by  Don13 (11)

Will drilling holes in a tree help it to take water in?

I have an issue with my trees not getting enough water, I have tried everything from installing an irrigation system to placing hose on them over night.

Never do that! Bark protects trees from infections. If you drill holes, they may get ill and die! Trees need healthy roots to "drink" water : perhaps they have a root or bark/wood illness, check with a specialist. Check if they are adapted to your soil and climate.

Do not drill holes in a tree, it will hurt it. If a tree can't get water, it could be poor soil conditions or the tree could just be dying.

No it will not. Generally speaking, drilling holes in any living being will cause distress and damage to the living being. This includes tree's. It is possible that the tree may already be damaged or sick.
