They feed in the water and will drag their food to water. When living wild, they eat live food such as fish, tadpoles, worms, etc. In captivity, you can feed them pieces of fish, raw liver or herring. Several times a week feed lettuce or fresh greens.

Terrapins eat both plants and meat. Plants can include leafy vegetables like lettuce and also berries. When feeding a terrapin meat, choose low fat beef, chicken, or pork. They can also eat small seafood items like shrimp. You can also buy vegetable pellets at a pet store, but these should only supplement their diet, not replace their meat and plants.
