What do I use to flush out my 18 hp Briggs and Stratton riding mower fuel line?

If you drain the fuel tank and leave the fuel line disconnected and dripping for a few hours, in a warm dry place, then there isn't any need to actually flush the line.

When preparing your mower for storage you really don't need to flush the fuel line. The best thing to do is to add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel and then run the engine for a few minutes to get all of the old fuel out of the lines and carburator. The stabilizer will help to keep the lines lubricated.

Just disconnecting the line from the carburetor and allowing it to drain into a container should be sufficient, but if you'd like to clean it out while disconnected any automotive carburetor cleaner should work fine; just spray it through the line and allow it to drain back out.

It's not usually necessary to flush the line; simply disconnect it from the carburetor and drain it. If you still want to flush it, you can use an automotive carburetor cleaner.

I always use the official branded Briggs and Stratton flushing formula, but there are other methods available. Try squeezing the lower proximity gauge until it reaches 10 or 12. This should flush the mower.
