Why does my MTD riding mower shift on the go but loses speed while going uphill?

I need some help troubleshooting what is wrong with my MTD riding mower, it is shifting while I am going however when I go up hill it loses a great deal of speed.

Sometimes the mower shifter is getting knocked out of gear due to a bump in the ground or accidentally hitting it while riding. Mower more than likely is a unpressurized oil system which causes the mower to lose HP as it is on a incline.

Most often this occurs when the transmission does not shift into the correct gear on an incline. Have your dealer check and adjust the engine and transmission.
