You can take your car to the dealership to check the light but before you do that call around to your local auto parts stores and see if they offer free code checking. Most parts stores have hand held code scanners and they will tell you what the problem is and reset it so the light will go off.

That light comes on for a reason. First identify why it's coming on. Several auto parts stores can check this for free. Once the problem is fixed, it'll go away.

You take it to your local mechanic and hope and pray he can figure it out and that it isn't a computer componant the price of those things are outrageous. They have a machine they hook up to the vehicle and it gives them a read out of what is causing the problem.

Well it sounds like it has an engine issue. Read the trouble codes and see what is wrong. Once you fix it clear the codes.
