car repairs

Question by  MiNdTrIp (12)

What could it be if the starter on my car just clicks when I turn the key over?

I know nothing about cars and would love suggestions as what this could be.

It could be a dead battery, bad solenoid, bad starter motor or your engine could be seized. Seized means it is locked.

It could be a loose wire on your starter, or your battery doesn't have enough power turn the starter. Which means you may need a new battery or your altenator is out. You can usually have either checked at the auto parts store

You need a new starter. The teeth are worn down. Even if it only happens some of the time, its starting to go.

Your car has no electric power. Either you left your headlights on or a door slightly ajar. It is possible too for the battery to just have died, though it is unlikely. Try jumping your car with another one, then let it run for a good 5 minutes. The battery could be un salvageable.
