What could cause an AC unit to ice up?

Over the last few days I have noticed that my AC unit has developed ice on it.

Check that your vents are open and unobstructed. People think that they can push more air into warmer rooms by closing vents. That's not a good idea.

It could be that your filter is plugged. It could also be that the unit is low on charge. If the unit is under warranty, call your service contractor. If the unit is not under warranty, call a reputable dealer in your area and schedule a service call. If the filter is dirty, change it.

If your AC unit is starting to ice up then there is a wiring issue. One of your wires is not hooked up right anymore and is not bringing heat in.
