Lumps in the throat are something that should not be taken lightly. Can be a sign of cancer. Other signs would include pain, and persistent hoarseness lasting more than 2 weeks. Please see a doctor asap if this is the case. Can also be swollen lymph node due to recent illness.

A bump in your throat could be the result of a thyroid problem. Thyroid can be under-active or over- active. The first can cause weight gain and the second can cause weight loss. If you have both these symptoms along with the bump in your throat, chances are that it is a thyroid problem.

You could have something lodged in your throat, a cancerous growth, or a lipoma (non-cancerous fatty tissue growth). There could be a swelling, or just the sensation of a lump caused by other issues. In any case, you need to see your doctor and stop worrying about what it COULD be, if it might be cancer early intervention is key.

A bump in your throat could be caused by an infection such as strep throat. It could also be caused by something you may have accidentally swallowed which became lodged in the tissues.
