What could be wrong if the malfunction and indicator lamps are on in my Mercedes Benz?

The lights came on this morning during my commute. My car doesn't seem to have any problems, what could be wrong?

Computers in modern cars not only turn on lights if there's a problem, they turn them on if it's time for scheduled maintenance.

It could be anything from the gas cap not being turned enough (3 clicks) or something more serious. You can take it to an Autozone and plug it into their machine for free in order to find out what the messages mean. There is usually a code that relates to a sensor. Sensor could be out, or mechanical problem.

There are a number of small problems that could set off the indicator lamps. A short list of things to check is as follows. Check the oil level, check the antifreeze level, check for a smell of rotten eggs coming from under the hood it indicates a bad thermostat. Also unscrew the gas cap and rescrew it,.

First thing to do is check your car manual to find specific problems related to the lights. If that does not help, having an expensive car like that the best thing to do would be to go a professional and have them look at it.

Some car manufacturers schedule the service light to come on at a specified interval just to get your car into the service professionals. Certain items on the car, notably the smog equipment, need to be serviced regularly, but do not result in performance problems for the driver.
