What could be the cause of the low oil pressure indicator light being on in my truck?

low pressure could be caused by low oil level,check dipstick under hood. Also the oil pump may be going out or the oil sending unit may be faulty.

Most likely it is one of two things. Either you are leaking oil or you are very low on oil. You should get it checked out.

The oil pump may not be functioning properly. The filter may be partially clogged or there may be an obstruction in the oil system. Low pressure could cause engine damage.

To me, the first cause might be that you lost a good amoung of oil by a gasket. Make sure that there is not a link in the rubber pipes in which travel the oil. Also, check if you find some oil in the prestone. When fixed, put the right amoung of oil in the motor.
