Does it crank over? If so check for fuel and spark, these are part of a three part mixture that all internal combustion engines need. If no fuel check for fuel pressure, fuel pumps or clogged filters are usually to blame here. If no spark check voltage at the coil, and for worn or damaged ignition components.

A dead battery in any vehicle will prevent the vehicle from starting. Try having someone attach jumper cables to your battery and theirs while their vehicle is running. Try starting your car. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad starter. A repair garage can give you a definite diagnosis.

You need the right combination of fuel, air, spark and compression. Is there fuel in the tanks and is it getting to the cylinder in the proper ammount? Is the air blocked in any way? Is there strong spark at the right moment? Are the pistons creating sufficinet compresion at the right time?

There are an endless number to why a truck wont start, especially if its an old one. If you have to pump the gas to start it it could be flooded. If it tries to start bunt wont gas may not be getting through the gas lines. The battery could be weak or dead.
