There are two main causes for smelly wells. The first is chemicals or minerals in the water at the level of your pump. The only fix is to filter the water before consuming. The second cause is bacteria in the water and/or the pipes. This can be cured by dropping bactericide in the well and allowing it to flow through.

Smells coming from well water are caused by minerals dissolved in the water, different minerals cause different smells. Companies that sell water softeners and purifiers can usually test your water and tell you what you need to do to fix the problem

Stagnent water creates bacteria which in turn creates bacterial gasses such as Methane and others this can be treated with water treatment if the evacuation cycle is very slow or with a fast pump evacuation evacuation system that clears the sump as soon as possible creating a fast elimination of stagnent water.

One of my theories implies the composition of the soil in which the water assembled, the mud may cause smelly and bad taste in water supply.

It may not be the well water that is causing this smell. Sometimes the pipes actually start to get buildup in them and causes anything that goes through them to smell.
