A bump on the dog's skin may be the result of an insect bite. Ticks, in particular, can cause permanent bumps. This is a result of the animal's immune system protecting itself against the attack.

A bump beneath the skin is most likely no too serious, just like people dogs can get cysts and malignant growths beneath their skin. If it is a visible bump above the skin but hidden in the hair it could be a tick or other foreign body.

IT can be anything you will need to take it to the vet to find out for sure. It could be cancer, or it can be something mild, but you should have your vet check it out. So you will know if it is serious or just something you won't have to worry about.
