What could be causing the power button not to work on my powerbook G4?

The button has most likely shifted in the frame, or the section under the button has broken. In terms of fixing it, you will have to take it apart.

May be your battery is dead and you don't have an external power. This happens usually when your power outlet switch is turned off.

If you can turn it on via other means, the it is most likely a broken wire ore contact on the button. If you can;t turn it on in any way, it may be the power supply/battery. The thing to do is borrow a battery and power supply from someone else and see if you can get yours to work.

The power button to not work on the powerbook G4 may have multiple reasons. First of all is the laptop in good condition, or is it physically damaged,there may be a loose connection due to rough handling, or the battery may have ran out.

The button can be blocked or the wires that are connected to it don't make a good contact. Its best for you to go and check at a pc store.

There are two things I know of that could be causing the power button on your power book to not work. The first thing to always check is power is there a battery in the powerbook and if there is a battery check to see if the batter is charged up.

try to turn it on without a battery, and your ac adaptor connected. if that doesn't work, you have a broken power connector.

Does your Power button blinks? Remove the power cord and battery. press the power button and leave it for 20 minutes. Reinsert battery and power cord. press the power button.
