Hyperness could be caused by the type of food. Some dog foods have too much protein in them for the dog's digestion system to handle, especially if it is puppy food. Another symptom of this is if the dog's stool is soft, and/or liquid. Try switching the food with something with less protein.

Mostly commonly, hyper active behavior is caused by the dog not getting enough exercise through out his or her day. Sometimes this can lead to destructive behavior. Schedule time to take your dog for short (10-15 minute) walks. You might also consider playing fetch or tug or war with them.

Your dog may be experiencing hyperness because it is under a degree of stress. The stress may be induced by competition with another dog.

Hyperness in any dog, is often caused by a lack of exercise, dogs need to be walked daily or played with. If they don't get enough exercise then they are more active in the home and appear to be hyper.
