What could be causing discharge following my mare's urination?

The most probable cause is that your horse is in estrus or heat. This happens naturally so if it's occurring for a few days on a regular basis it shouldn't be cause for too much concern. If it happens frequently for long periods of time you should contact your vet.

Your mare could have something slightly simple like a urinary tract infection, up to a more serious bladder infection. I'd get her vet checked and find out.

The most likely possibility is either a bladder infection or a urinary tract infection. Either way, you should bring her to a veterinarian as soon as possible. She needs to be on some form of antibiotics to combat the infection.

It could be some kind of an infection, so you should call a vet who specializes in large animals to see the mare.

Honestly have her vet checked for wither a kidney or a urinary tract infection if she is rubbing she could have gotten a yeast infection.

Gonorrhea or Syphilis could cause discomfort and discharge, but is easily cured with anti-biotics and a possible shot from the doctor.
