There are a number of reasons any furry little mammal could be losing hair. One common one is stress. They'll chew or lick their hair off. Make sure the habitat is large, away from loud noise, clean and full of toys. Other reasons could be fur mites, fleas, or ringworm.

I do not think a guinea pig would lose hair due to stress. There is usually an underlying medical reason if they are licking or chewing. Seek medical attention.  add a comment

Things like mites or fleas can cause bald spots on your guinea pig. There are other problems that could cause it but these are the major two. Check the cage for any bugs and change the bedding often to prevent fleas and mites.

Bald spots on your guinea pig could be caused by mange mites, fungal infections, or metabolic hair loss. Metabolic hair loss could be because of a vitamin d deficiency, a bacterial infection (Cryptococcosis or staphylococcal dermatitis), or low protein diet. Balding can be common for guinea pigs near weaning age or for those who are post partum.

Hair loss could be pregnancy or a fungal infection. Take your guinea pig to a qualified exotics vet for an exam ASAP.

Guinea pigs lose hair from a number of reasons. You really should take it to a vet to determine the cause, which may require antibiotics to cure it. From my experience, it is probably parasites, which will require treatment including antibiotics. Don't delay professional care for your piggy!

Usually this could mean that the guinea pig has some sort of infection or mite that is attacking it. If you dont get a medication to treat it then it will continue to get worse and the guinea pig will die. They stop eating and taking care of themselves once they get sick enough.

It could be that it has gotten sick or it could be that he developed a nervous habit. If you are worried you can always call the vet to see if they wish to see him. They will be better at answering this question, because they will have a better idea since they have training that I do not have.
