The American led attack on Iraq, following the 9-11-2001 terrorist attack in NY and Washington-DC, is referred to as Desert Storm II. The attack and subsequent occupation over-threw Saddam Hussein and his Baath Party. Its more commonly referred to as Operation Iraqi Freedom, since it liberated Iraqis from Saddam's oppression.
