Torret's syndrome is usually what causes these problems. In addition, the child will exhibit some violent, at times profane verbal outbursts, like shouting profanity in church. It is a mental disorder and the child cannot help themselves. What they need is psychological treatment that will help to control the condition.

Two suggestion autism or Tourette syndrom. Autism is more complex, but Tourette syndrom can be treated by medication. Autism should be connected with general retardation. Another is petit mal epilepsy as the seizures may look like tics, but should not be as frequent as in case of Tourette syndrom. A last option are behavioral problems.

Autism is not always associated with retardation- in fact many of the autistic children and Asperger children have above average intellect. My child went through this and it was linked to his medication. It manifested because of glucose levels being low. See an MD.  add a comment

Tics are caught from forest areas where deer live. Your child can have a tantrum because of just being plain naughty or an underlying problem such as a reaction to a certain type of food. The child might have autism. Some children can not eat a lot of sugary foods.

Sounds like a classic case of Tourettes syndrome. Many children suffer from it but most are not very extreme. Tourettes can be as little as a pinky twitch all the way up to screaming, yelling, cursing and fits of rage. Severe tourettes in children usually come across as tics tantrums.
