There are many cities in the world which is in the equator such as Pontianak in Indonesia, Quito in Ecuador, Kampala in Uganda and Macapa in Brazil.

No city is exactly on the equator, but at least four are within 1 degree north or south. The closest city in Pontianak, Indonesia, at 0 deg 19' S. Other near-equatorial cities are Sorok, Indonesia, at 0 deg 50' S, Kampala Uganda, at 0 deg 19' N, and Kisangani, Congo, at 0 deg 33' N.

Since the Equator goes around the entire globe, it passes through many cities. Some of the largest include Singapore; Quito,Peru and Libreville, Gabon. Nairobi, Kenya and Mogadishu, Somalia are also near the Equator.
