The valves on your truck are probobly getting worn out. That was the problem on my truck. It would only run good when I put super unleaded. You can try buying a lead additive and that should help out.

It could be clattering because it is not use to that type of gas. If it has always had premium then you are going to hear clatter when you run unleaded.

All gas that is currently sold in the United States is unleaded. If you meant that you truck runs poorly on lower octane gas than chances are there are some problem within the engine. More than likely your ignition system is no working properly. It is not producing a good enough spark to light the lower octane fuel properly.

Well all gas today is unleaded. It sounds like you are using a lower octane gas than what is recommended by the manufacturer. Try using a higher rate one and see if that fixes it. Otherwise you may have some type of internal engine issue.

The fact that if your car was use to a much higher premium gas type instead of the low octane unleaded gas. This could be the cause or engine troubles.
