Petunias exude a sticky substance naturally to be able to defend itself from it's natural enemies. Aphids and sucking type insect attacking the plant, will be trapped and die.

Petunias are sticky because of a gummy exudate that seeps out from the stems, so make sure you wear gloves when handling them.

Petunias are naturally sticky on the leave and stems so don't panic! This is a common plant trait for a petunia to have.
