Skin tags are an overgrowth of tissue and are not harmful. However, if it is in a place that gets caught on their collar for example you may need to have them removed by your local vet.

Skin tags on dogs are most often simple genetics. Though they may look painful they are not harming your dog. If they become very large you may want them removed.

Nothing causes skin tags, dogs are generally born with them. Sometimes it is a result from inbreeding, cross breeding, and sometimes there is no explanation. As long as the skin tags dont bother the dog, they are harmless. Skin tags on or by the genetals should be looked at by the vet.

Dogs generally develope skin tags genetically and they will appear without warning and at any time. Depending upon where they are they may not have to be removed. If a skin tag is causing a dog any discomfort it will need to be removed by a veterinarian. Usually they are harmless.
