Facial numbness is a loss of sensation of feeling in an area of the face. Numbness may be due to injury or damage to the nerves that supply the face or due to impairment in the function of nerves •It can be a sign of a peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage).

There are a few things that can cause face numbness: the most severe being a stroke. If you have any other neuorlogical problems this is something you want to have looked at right away. Other things involve drugs, either side effects of cocaine, or some form of pain reliever.

causes - Acoustic neuroma ,Benign astrocytoma,Cranial neuralgia ,Dentatorubral pallidoluysian disorderIdiopathic ,facial palsy ,Neurofibromatosis-2 ,Paralytic shellfish poisoning ,Salivary gland cancer,Syringomyelia, medulla oblongata lesion are the causes of face numbness .

Once possible cause for facial numbness is TMJ, which is a problem with the joint in your jaw. Another possibility is that facial numbness can be an early sign of Shingles. In either case, or just in case something even more serious could be going on, see a doctor.
