The government regulates the efficiencies of units sold on the open market. Competition makes them all comparable. You will only find a difference in quality if you purchase a top of the line unit. I prefer Rheem.
Both of these types of furnaces use electricity to power them. If you want to use gas then you will have to choose another kind that uses different types of wires.
