In my family my mother and grandmother have always told us to put a little bit of Karo syrup in a bottle of formula if the baby was constipated, it helps them to have a bowel movement. As a mother of two, I must say it works wonders!

This helps soften an infants bowels so that they may have an easier time of going to the bathroom. They will not be irritable when it comes to constipation.

If you put a couple of table spoons in their water or formula it helps stimulate bowels movement and makes the stool softer and less painful.

I can tell you that Karo syrup used to be suggested for bouts of constipation but is now frowned upon due to the risk of botulism.

Karo or baby corn syrup can increase fluid level in the bowel and helps to releave constipation, but medically it not advocated as increase in fluid loss causes electrolyte imbalance.
