Sprinkle ground cinnamon around the perimeter of your garden and specifically around the area where your okra is growing. The strong scent of the cinnamon acts as a natural repellent. Another suggestion is to mix 2 parts rosemary oil with 5 parts water in a spray bottle and spray it directly onto the okra plants.

Spraying with breakfast cereals such as instant grits or Malt-O-Meal reportedly works great. Molasses products and homemade citrus oil work well, also. Soak citrus peelings in water for about two weeks is the simple process to obtain the citrus oil and garlic-pepper tea can be added to the citrus water, making it more potent.

My favorite is to soak citrus peeling, from oranges or lemons water for two weeks. This will yield citrus oil. Put this oil around your plants. Molasses products work well also. Some people use breakfast ceral like Malt-o-meal.

There are all organic pesticides available at most local hardware store and online. Just make sure the one you choose prevents ants.
