The best thing to do is to make sure your pulley is tight. If it is tight you may have to get a new clutch. You can install a new clutch yourself but it is really time consuming. Make sure you have the power turned off to the air conditioner because the fan can come on anytime.

You may have to replace your AC compressor in order to fix your clutch. This is pretty difficult to do unless you have the experience and patience to do this correctly. I would suggest an expert to complete this process. Depending on the age of the air conditioner, the AC compressor may be expensive.

Perform all the initial test of switches, belts, fuses, and turning of the actual pulley. If you are not familiar with the coolants or mechanicals repairs, contact a certified mechanic.

Two things could be done, either replace the compressor or let a mechanic see it first. Maybe it just need some cleaning or fixing it right.

have a mechanic check the belt tension on it. sometimes this is an indication that the compressor is going bad or the freon pressure levels are not correct. have professional look at it.
