What can I do if my optical audio cable won't stay inserted?

Check to see if the little plastic cap is still placed on the end of the fiber. This may cause the fiber to not fully seat in the socket. Also check to see if there is any debris in the socket that would cause the detent to not fully seat in the socket.

Your cable may be damaged. Be sure also to check with absolute certainty that you are inserting the cable correctly. Due to its odd shape chances are its just not being inserted the right way.

You can buy a new cable which will have a tighter fitting and it will stay in because of the tighter fitting.
