If your wages were attached due to the debt, and the item has since been repossessed, you may or may not still owe on it. If the creditor will not stop the garnishment, you'll have to go to court.

If there is a legal writ of garnishment, and repossession, your only recourse is to petition the court for redress. There has already been a judgment in which the court found you culpable. You will have to prove to the court otherwise. You may try claiming hardship.

Usually these things occur after a legal judgment has been entered against you. The first step then is to hire an attorney and see if you can get that changed.
